Call Pick Up

It would be great to be able to answer a ringing phone that is not in a “Ring Group”.

On premise based systems a user would pickup a ringing extension by one of two ways:

  1. (Blind Pickup) User enters a specific feature code or a pre-programmed button
    to pickup any ringing extension

Scenario: Ringing extension(s) is/are in a large room with multiple cubicles
and the receptionist, secretary or covering employee can’t tell whose phone is ringing
in order to answer it.

  1. (Extension Pickup).User enters a specific feature code or a pre-programmed
    button plus the extension number of the ringing phone.

Scenario: Ringing extension is in a small space and the receptionist, secretary or
covering employee knows which phone is ringing.

I just asked support how to do this, and was told it is not available in Ooma. This is a standard feature of Asterisk based systems, and our Yealink phones have a soft button for this. It is likely capability that already exists and is being blocked. I expected some limitations to come up in moving from our own server to a mass-market, hosted solution, but this seems like a small thing to provide. Please make this function available.
